Timing is everything, and at 63, Trevor B. Power is exactly where he is supposed to be. With Two Crows—the band’s fourth release in a remarkably short span—Power is proving that music is woven into his soul. “I wish I would have gotten started recording sooner,” he laughs. “But life unfolds exactly when it’s meant to.”

That unfolding has led to a major creative hot streak. Hot on the heels of Are We Ever Free, Trevor immediately teamed back up with producer Dave Fields. “I told Dave, ‘Let me just keep writing and we’ll keep recording,’” Power says. “He’s phenomenal at what he does with my songs.”
But Two Crows was also forged in real-world heartache. The past year brought heavy losses for Power, including his older brother John and Derek and the Dominos legend Bobby Whitlock—both pivotal influences on his life.
Through the grief, Power maintains a powerful perspective. Two Crows stands as a resilient, soul-stirring reflection of an artist channeling love and loss into the most authentic music of his career.

The Deep Dive

Trevor B. Power is back and conjuring Slim Harpo on the opener of this new release, Bobby Lane. Power’s gritty vocals and restrained guitar work allows the track to breathe with Steve Holley on drums and Dave Fields on guitar and bass. Solid opener.

Driving rocker, is drum fed by Holley with haunting harp work by Will Wylde and strong guitar wailing by Power and Fields on slide with Kenny Thorstenson on bass. Straight up rocker, Horizon has all the components of a solid radio player. With smooth lead vocals, the addition of Jasper Fields on flute, Holley on drums and Dave Fields playing guitar, bass, and keys, it is my absolute choice for airplay.
Ballad, Puddles of Blood, uses the approach rendered by Led Zep (That’s The Way) and the Stones (Sympathy for the Devil) on quieter ballads yet yielding a totally new track and sound. With thought provoking lyrics and including Fields and Laura Kate Marshall on backing vocals, quite effective.  Wrapping the release is heartfelt, Our Time Is Short. As we get older I think that we all think to ourselves about the times we’ve had and the friends we’ve passed. With easy guitar accompaniment, Fields on keys, Marshall on backing vocals and crisp drums by Holley, this is a super closer.
