Tas Cru calls himself a "blues eclectic," mostly because he refuses to get boxed into just one style. Based out of Central New York, he’s a seasoned singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has spent years building a reputation as a great storyteller. He infuses his music with plenty of roots rock and a sharp sense of wit, and he’s incredibly versatile on stage—just as comfortable doing a solo acoustic set with a cigar-box guitar and a harmonica as he is fronting a full six-piece band. He's got a massive catalog of original music under his belt and a lifetime of touring experience, giving him a laid-back, authentic vibe that makes him a standout in the blues scene.

The Deep Dive
Opening with title track, Might Give Out, which relies on a heavy, rhythmic groove that has a faint trace of Dire Straits but more bluesy. Tas Cru pairs his signature gritty vocals with fluid guitar leads to outline a theme of perseverance which may be one of my favorite tracks by Cru so far. On Known All Along, the band locks into an infectious mid-tempo roots-rock rhythm with Cru in an almost whispery R&B vocal style. With tight organ work by Scott Ebner and sharp electric guitar work by Cru, joined by Andy Hearn on drums and Colin Beatty on bass, a solid radio track. Up tempo, Pass Them Biscuits, a humorous track with backing vocals by Mia Casale and with the addition of harmonica, this track has a potent beat.
Tulsa Tornado has a sonic richness with Jeremy Walz on slide guitar and solid melody writing and vocals by Cru. This track dials up the dramatic tension, using an atmospheric arrangement and intense, searing slide guitar work to capture the chaotic energy implied by its name. Come to Be, a beautifully balanced track featuring a prominent vocal duet with Mary Ann Casale and lush, David Lindley influenced slide work by Walz. The vocal interplay adds an extra layer of warmth and emotional depth, supported smoothly by rich piano and steady organ chords by Ebner. Wrapping the release is acoustic closer, Smell Like Whiskey. This stripped-back finale leaves only Cru on acoustic guitar, a harmonica, and an honest vocal performance to bring the record to a raw and reflective finish. Very nice closer.

Watch: Tas Cru play You Keep The Money
This collection highlights a veteran artist confidently navigating roots-rock and blues styles with infectious grooves and a distinct vocal presence. The instrumentation remains a key strength, shifting seamlessly from tight organ accents and a potent rhythm section to expressive harmonica and standout slide guitar work. The arrangements effectively build dramatic tension with atmospheric textures and warm vocal duets before grounding themselves in simpler moments. By closing with a completely stripped-back acoustic performance, the album relies purely on a single guitar and an honest voice to deliver a genuinely reflective, satisfying finish.
Bman's Verdict
Built on steady grooves, solid slide work, and a distinct vocal presence, this roots-focused project moves between atmospheric full-band arrangements and a stripped-back acoustic finish.
