Miss Robin Banks - Lost In Austin featuring The Moeller Brothers

Label: Independent
Released: July 1, 2026
DR: TBD

Robin Banks isn't your average blues singerโ€”sheโ€™s a powerhouse with a voice that can stop you in your tracks and a stage presence that completely commands a room. Growing up in Windsor, Ontario, she fell hard for the raw, soulful sounds of legends like Etta James and Koko Taylor, and she's been chasing that authentic groove ever since. Instead of waiting around for big labels, Robin took the wheel herself, self-producing her own records and hitting the road to tour across Canada, the US, and Europe. She eventually found herself drawn to the legendary music scene in Austin, Texas, soaking up the local vibe and jamming with top-tier players. That laid-back, lone-star energy directly inspired her 2026 album, Lost in Austin, proving that no matter where she wanders, she knows exactly how to deliver the blues.

The Music
Opening with Not Today, Miss Robin Banks mixes swagger with strong R&B feel. Her vocal lead is great and blending is smooth making for a great leader.  The great Johnny Moeller has incredible style, and I just love hearing him step up with his instantly recognizable sound. Supersonic Rocket Ship has a driving country rocker feel and again Moeller really kicks it in the pants with his flaming riffs. Banks shows her easy flexibility across multiple musical themes and Steve Marriner on harmonica really hits the road running. Very nice.
Shuffle, It's My Time, has a great swing and Banks is in the groove. Johnny Moeller anchors the track with a stinging, Texas-fried electric guitar riffs that will pin your ears back. These Days, has a radio feel with a memorable melody and upfront vocals by Banks. Roly Platt is featured on harmonica on this one and his sweet melodic soloing, coupled with Bruce Bears on organ and keys really works nicely. On country swing number, It's Too Late, Dale Rivard on steel guitar add real authentic styling behind Banks' perfect vocal performance. All it needs is Bob Wills yelling out "Take off Leon" to cap it off (just kidding).
Country blues, Never 51 / Maple Leave It Alone, is a solid ballad featuring Banks upfront chased by Moeller on guitar. Jay Moeller on drums really holds the rhythm tight while Bears drives the organ and Drew Allain romps the bass. With it's Mambo/Cha Cha rhythm, Some Other Day Some Other Time, Banks again really slips into a groove with her soulful vocals and Johnny Moeller is right there again with his trademark sound. Terrific.
A strong cover of T-Bone Walker's, Cold Cold Feelin', Banks showing incredible feel accented by Johnny again with beautiful trem bends and lush phrasing. Bears on Hammond really grips the feeling and holds tight as Johnny winds it up tighter than a drum. Wrapping the release with Talk Dirty To Ya, Johnny Moeller rips a great intro and the band settles into a funky groove. Keeping it loose, Banks coaxes the band and Moeller answers back with simple guitar statements before taking the lead for his final run. Definitely the strongest release I've reviewed by Banks. Very cool.

My take

This whole record just clicks, capturing that rare magic where a band walks into a room, locks into a groove, and completely cuts loose. It jams from start to finish with the perfect mix of raw energy, deep soul, and killer solos, easily standing out as an absolute must-listen high point for modern roots music.
